Australian Research
Parent Effectiveness Training has been well researched since it first began in 1962. There now is large and recent accumulation of evidence on the qualities of parenting that improve the life chances of children. 'How the Evidence of Today Supports the Wisdom of Yesterday' explores the relationship between the skills taught in P.E.T. and the characteristics required for positive life-outcomes for children.
Australian researcher Dr Christine Wood has added important information to the body of evidence regarding the efficacy of P.E.T, writing papers from her award winning Phd thesis. The links to her work can be found below.
A comparison of Parent Effectiveness Training with other parenting programs can be found at the Gordon Training website.
Larissa, following her passion for the P.E.T. model, has presented posters and workshops at national and international parenting and relationship conferences around Australia. Her work is included in the resource list below.
